Department of Urology

Urology as a broad speciality deals with the disorders of Genitourinary system. There are several subspecialities which come under the broad speciality of Urology. Pediatric Urology, Endourology, Reconstructive Urology, Uro Oncology, Andrology and renal Transplantation are some of them. As the name suggests Pediatric Urology caters to the urological problems of children… Congenital genitourinary anomalies, pediatric stone diseases form the main bulk of pediatric urological disorderes. Reconstructive urology refers to correction of certain urological problems like Pelvi ureteric junction obstruction, urethroplasty for stricture disease etc. Endourology deals with endoscopic treatment of stone and stricture disease and also some cases of pediatric age group like Posterior urethral valves. Treatment of urological cancers like cancers of kidney, urinary bladder, testes and penis are dealt with by the uro- oncology subspeciality. Andrology refers to treatment of male infertility and impotence while Renal Transplantation subspeciality is involved in kidney transplant surgery and also access surgery for dialysis in the form of peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion or Arterio venous fistula creation. Urology is a highly evolved surgical branch with a very wide scope of applications.
